Our story

The Brazoria County and Galveston County Nurse Honor Guard is run by a dedicated team of nurses who have a passion for honoring and remembering their colleagues. Our goal is to provide a meaningful and dignified way to remember the lives and contribution of Nurses, while also raising awareness of the service within the community and encouraging others to support and honor the profession.

As Nurses, we understand the importance of honoring our late colleagues and are committed to providing this service with the upmost care and respect.

Services

Nurse Honor Guard conducts Nightingale Tributes, honoring deceased nurses through meaningful ceremonies that pay homage to their contributions. Our mission encompasses creating memorable tributes and fostering a sense of gratitude within the healthcare community.

  • A tribute ceremony to honor the nurse's life and contributions to the profession.

  • A Nightingale lamp, symbolizing the nurse's dedication to care and compassion.

  • White roses, symbolizing the purity of the nurse's dedication to their patients.

  • A plaque with the Nightingale Tribute, a personalized tribute to the nurse's life and legacy.

  • A last call to duty.

Nightingale Tribute

Nursing is a calling, a lifestyle, a way of living. Nurses here today honor Her life as a Nurse. She is not remembered by her years as a nurse, but by the difference she made during those years by stepping into people’s lives…by special moments:

When a calming, quiet presence was all that was needed,

She was there.

In the excitement and miracle of birth or in the mystery and loss of life,

She was there.

When a silent glance could uplift a patient, family member or friend,

She was there.

At those times when the unexplainable needed to be explained,

She was there.

When the situation demanded a swift foot and a sharp mind,

She was there.

When a gentle touch, a firm push, or an encouraging word was needed,

She was there.

In choosing the best one from a family's “Thank you” box of chocolates,

She was there.

To witness humanity---its beauty, in good times and bad, without judgment,

She was there.

To embrace the woes of the world, willingly, and offer hope,

She was there.

And now, that it is time to be at the Greater One’s side,

She IS there.

We officially release you of your nursing duties. We will continue to carry your lamp for you.
